Grey, overcast day, gloomy. Long, empty stares out the window, sad. What I to do now that hockey is over?
This has been one lllooonnnngggg weekend without a hockey game stumbling around doing chores, errands, dog walking and no action to move me forward. Still, nothing until Tuesday but I do see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have never been a fan of All Star games as they aren’t really playing…… Continue reading Hockey Returns
WOW, WOW, WOW! Saturday is my day to do chores, vacuuming, laundry, taking the dog for that LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG walk so as to make this more enjoyable I tuned in NBC TV and the Boston Bruins Montreal Canadian playoff game. Historically, these two teams don't like one another particularly when fighting for the right to call… Continue reading Back checks, body crashes, slapshots, and goals
Deja vu! Flash back to 2003 Minnesota trailing in the playoff series against Patrick Roy and the Avalanche 3 games to 1 storm back and knock out Colorado and Mr. Roy. Patrick retires from the game. Fast forward to 2014 with Roy now behind the bench and facing Minnesota again and what ya know the Wild did it… Continue reading Wow Roy! Wow Kings!
Early summer vacation for the Redwings as we all look forward to a 24th consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. ??? The team played hard but, to me, something was missing. Wait a minute, an epiphany I just had! The Michigan Wolverines of college football fame (with a similar circumstance) visited Pasadena, California (my favorite city… Continue reading A Short Second Season, Detroit goes Home
The downside of internet radio is that once the game is over the broadcast is cutoff so the adrenaline built up is suddenly left hanging. talk about kicking the stool out out under your feet. It is ok we won and now just three more to go!!!
This radio thing is GREAT I commend whoever created it . Yesterday I was listening to the Colorado Redwings, oops there I go again, the Colorado Avalanche playoff game against the Minnesota Wild with the announcers, I forget the names, adding color. Doing some bookkeeping and other stuff online I listen to Patrick Roy's first… Continue reading So it begins the race for The Cup, eh?
Finally, the second season of professional hockey is set to begin and I am as giddy as a school boy; the anxiety, the anticipation mounts then finally the brackets become clear! Channels that cover the games are checked and rechecked, the rewriting of personal schedules, nothing matters in the world but the next two months,… Continue reading The Second Season, eh?
For the 2013-2014 hockey season I made the tough choice of not signing up for NHL Center Ice due to financial reasons which immediately caused sweaty palms, biting of the fingernails, shakes, and a wet brow. How can one enjoy the thrilling game of hockey without seeing the bone crunching checks, body slams into the…… Continue reading RADIO WAVES
Under a full moon Detroit steps onto the ice Colorado already there fans, both Redwing and Avalanche, sense a renewal of a physical rivalry. Then the puck goes the ice SCORE! Some say, “God is on our side” well this evening the moon was on ours pulling two pucks into the Colorado net then in…… Continue reading Lunacy Tonite, eh?
Congrats to Chicago for winning The Cup all season you came from behind to win in the final minutes so I think it most appropriate that the championship be won in the same way. This year the excitement that is The Stanley Cup Finals is felt by yours truly more so than ever before and, that includes when Detroit won, the reason not seeing it on television instead getting updates online and listening to online radio.
