So much action happens in the game what with players racing from one end of the ice rink to the other, stopping on a dime, changing directions, fights, and goals all of this on a thin piece of sharp metal.

What I like or Love, a many splendored thing

Here we go:   Writing The shine and feel of native copper nuggets passing over and between my fingers. Wind rustling leaves The warmth of the sun as it emerges from behind clouds Geography, particular desert. Space exploration Breathing the freshest most vitalizing air on earth The Erie Canal The psychological affect of gardening Physical…… Continue reading What I like or Love, a many splendored thing

Mechanically Dismayed

The following anecdote played out in numerous scenes from early February to mid-April 2015 teaching me about patience and mechanical things.  I compressed the story to keep the reader from falling asleep.   Cruising 60 mph down State Highway 14 in Washington State on my way to work in St. Johns, Oregon crashing cymbals, kettledrums,…… Continue reading Mechanically Dismayed

Connected to the Past

The two wires pictured here are not from an old personal computer or a vintage 80s VCR no, it is of something more powerful and enduring, nostalgic:  a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 Police Interceptor, black and chrome.  While in the process of a minor repair to the powerful 390 engine the distinctly different wires, one…… Continue reading Connected to the Past

Classical, I love it!

Sunday, March 15, 2015 210pm.  I am in a euphoric mood as the Detroit Redwings pound the Pittsburg Penguins 5-1 and the skies are grey with periodic breakthroughs of sunshine.  As of 2pm PST a wind advisory is posted with gusts predicted to reach 45 mph, now they are blowing from south to southeast at…… Continue reading Classical, I love it!

WOW, WOW, WOW! Saturday is my day to do chores, vacuuming, laundry, taking the dog for that LLLLOOOONNNNGGGG walk so as to make this more enjoyable I tuned in NBC TV and the Boston Bruins Montreal Canadian playoff game. Historically, these two teams don't like one another particularly when fighting for the right to call… Continue reading Back checks, body crashes, slapshots, and goals

Early summer vacation for the Redwings as we all look forward to a 24th consecutive appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  ???  The team played hard but, to me, something was missing.  Wait a minute,  an epiphany I just had!    The Michigan Wolverines of college football fame (with a similar circumstance) visited Pasadena, California (my favorite city… Continue reading A Short Second Season, Detroit goes Home

The downside of internet radio is that once the game is over the broadcast is cutoff so the adrenaline built up is suddenly left hanging.  talk about kicking the stool out out under your feet.  It is ok we won and now just three more to go!!!

This radio thing is GREAT I commend whoever created it .   Yesterday I was listening to the Colorado Redwings, oops there I go again, the Colorado Avalanche playoff game against the Minnesota Wild with the announcers, I forget the names, adding color. Doing some bookkeeping and other stuff online I listen to Patrick Roy's first… Continue reading So it begins the race for The Cup, eh?
