back home

745am,febrary 25, 2017. bend, oregon outside temperature 24 degrees fahrenheit the car interior cccooolllddd. the past week and one half on merchandising assignments and now heading to home, sweet home.  bend is in central oregon flanked on the west by the cascade mountains and on the east by sage, pine, and cattle and on this early, frigid morning the sky is clear the sun doing its best to melt frost from car windows.  driving north out of town highway 97 rises above a railroad bed and there off to the west land gradually slants upward drawing the eye across farm land to the towering, snow capped three sisters of those cascade mountains.  Eyes shifting from the road chaos out the windshield to those peaks WOW, WOW, WOW spews forth.

down the road a bit an unencumbered view and again the head shifts to the left enjoying the view long enough to record then back to mayhem.  the miles add up and the spectacular view fades from one to another as Mt. Hood gets closer and closer and closer and closer.  instead of sage and cattle acres of pine take over and with elevation those pine climb then stop presenting a clearing of such magnitude, beauty, and darn good skiing my spirits rise to the occasion.  a smile spreads across my face, snow falls from encroaching pine, gravel and red dirt used for traction on icy roads now melted splash and bounce off the windshield from a car before me, i am getting my moneys worth from the wipers and fluid.  there are no cars behind me no distractions except nature. at the roads peak elevation, 4500′, traffic closes in as skiers rush to the slopes, city life has caught up.

i insert the key unlocking the front door then push it open immediately dropping to the hardwood floor giving it a returning travelers kiss.  a cloud of dust bunnies settle around and on top of me, i am glad to be home.

I enjoy photography, writing, walking, nature, reading, and of course the coooolest game on earth HOCKEY! I took up photography in 9th grade and seeing the world in a different light wanting to, of course, photograph everything, unfortunately not everything comes out the way I'd like.
